About APA

The Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook has been hosting Pakistan Independence day programs in Bolingbrook for 25 years.  Previously held in the Village hall and the DuPage Township Levy Center.  After a few years of arranging the successful programs and to adhere to the request of the Pakistani American community we requested Mayor Roger Claar to see if we could hold a flag hoisting ceremony.  We were very fortunate that Mayor Claar accepted our request and from there on we started this historic flag hoisting ceremony at Village hall in the presence of Village officials, Consul General of Pakistan and various politicians who graciously honored us.  This year marks the 25th year of our flag hoisting ceremony.

We are very proud to say that Bolingbrook is the only community in the USA that holds such a historic ceremony where the Pakistani flag has been hoisted for 25 years and the Consulate General of Pakistan has always attended.

The accomplishments of the Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook are driven by a strong community.  We are an intimate group who put our community before anything else.   Our outreach is great and we strive to deliver to the needs of our community.  Our efforts do not stop at just the Pakistan Day festivities.  We are involved politically, socially and morally. Bolingbrook offers a full adult and youth cricket league to the community along with participation in disaster relief efforts, family counseling, financial assistance and many other services.

“Taste of Pakistan” is our signature Pakistan Independence Day celebration.  Thousands of individuals join us on this day to celebrate.  It's a great day to spend with loved ones.  With food, entertainment and prizes for all.  It is also the best opportunity for businesses to showcase their products/services.

Money Magazine has included Bolingbrook in its “100 best places to live in the USA” for many years.  This was not an overnight accomplishment but took much hard work and the leadership and vision of Bolingbrook Mayor, Roger C. Claar who brought us this prestigious honor.  Bolingbrook is home to two Mosques and a private Islamic school as well.  Bolingbrook has a vibrant and diverse community, which is keeping its traditional values and at the same time plays a significant role in the progress of the Village.
